Shirokuma means “white bear”. While there aren’t any white bears in these parts – and all the Hokkaido Brown Bears will be hibernating in winter – this chalet took its name from the polar bear in the logo for Bundaberg Rum, a popular drink in Australia where the owner of this chalet was from.
